About

"You gotta know the territory!"

-Meredith Willson, The Music Man

In this business, there is no substitute for experience. Mitchell combines a decade of production leadership with a top-tier legal education to provide sophisticated counsel for artists, production companies, and creative entities.

 â€‹

Before entering the law, Mitchell served as the Director of Production for Music Theatre Wichita and held key roles at the Goodman Theatre and Santa Fe Opera. His transition to transactional law was a natural evolution of a career spent managing the complexities of live entertainment. Having negotiated hundreds of labor, service, and supply contracts from the management side, Mitchell understands that a good deal isn't just about the fine print—it's about the operational reality of the industry.

Mitchell earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Washburn University School of Law, graduating in the top 5% of his class with a focus on employment law. Today, he leverages this expertise to assist clients with: contract negotiation-drafting and finalizing labor and service agreements; intellectual property matters-navigating rights clearances and copyright protections; and labor relations-representing interests at the intersection of management and creative labor.

Mitchell hasn't just read entertainment law; he has lived it. This unique background ensures his clients have an ally who understands the nuances of the craft as well as the nuances of the law.
